Vern Porter is a Managing Director of LandMarkers Hospitality Group and a member of the Development Group Team.

Mr. Porter also serves as Vice President of Gravity Resorts Management in Truckee, CA where he is responsible for all financial functions, site management, legal and audit for this resort management company.

From 2006 -2011 Vern was General Manager of The Nautical Beachfront Resort, Lake Havasu City, AZ. There he managed the historical 139 room lakefront resort, oversaw the renovation of the suites and was Chairperson of the Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau.

As General Manager of the Northstar Club, a Private Residence Club located at Northstar at Tahoe Mr. Porter increased member satisfaction at all levels as evidenced by independent surveys.

From 1985-1998 Vern Porter was Vice President, Finance and Development for Harbaugh Hotels in Los Angeles, CA where he oversaw all accounting functions at each property. Annual revenues exceeded $50,000,000. Vern’s development responsibilities included networking within the industry to find suitable hotels for purchase, preparing and presenting business plans to potential buyers, negotiating purchases, closing transactions, handling the takeovers, and establishing operating procedures in nine separate transactions.

Vern Porter served as General Manager and subsequently as Vice President, Operations responsible for operating performance for rooms, engineering, human resources, and security for The Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles, CA. This 1022 room historical landmark hotel was purchased for $5,250,000 and was operating at a loss. Under Vern’s direction hotel occupancy grew from 26% to 64% and the property achieved Mobil Four Star status in 1978, the only such property in downtown Los Angeles. The hotel’s gourmet restaurant, Bernard’s, was rated # 9 in California. The asset was profitable and in 1979 the property was mortgaged for $30,000,000 with payments supported entirely by operations. The property sold for $75,000,000 in 1984.

From 1972 – 1977 Mr. Porter was a Certified Public Accountant with Price Waterhouse & Co, Los Angeles, CA. He holds a B.A in Accounting from California State University, Northridge.
